First year students in Ohio Hi-Point’s Biomedical Science Satellite program at Graham High School thought they would walk into a classroom, instead they walked into a crime scene.
Students were faced with a challenge of solving the death of Anna Garcia, a fictional character created by the writers of the Project Lead The Way curriculum. Biomedical Sciences instructor, Cheryl Hess and the level 4 course students, created the crime scene for the students.
The crime scene will become clearer with each lesson, giving students bits and pieces of information that they can apply to the crime scene for a hands-on learning experience. By the end of the year the level 1 students will be able to determine Anna Garcia’s cause of death.
Students enrolled in OHP’s Satellite program at Graham High School may earn college credit by completing all four courses of the Biomedical Sciences program.
Ohio Hi-Point’s Biomedical Program is offered in a four program series and is open to high school students, freshmen through seniors. For more information visit ohiohipoint.com or contact Cheryl Hess, Instructor, at chess@ohiohipoint.com
