Open for Business: Putting Education to the Test

How many students have the opporutnity to say they’ve run a business while attending high school? Fortunately, our students involved in our Culinary Program and Cosmetology program at Ohio Hi-Point have a first hand look at future careers.

Both programs are planning to open their businesses for the 2012-2013 school year, the Sloan Inn and the Hi-Point Salon Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.

The Culinary students have worked diligently to create a menu, decorate the restaurant and cook as well as present the meals, and now, on Wednesday, Sept. 26 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the future chefs are ready to open the Sloan Inn for business.

An array of appetizers, ranging from $2 to $5, includes deep fried mushrooms and stuffed potato skins. Entrées, all under $6, include burgers, chicken sandwiches and Reuben’s, which are served with the customer’s choice of side.

The Sloan Inn’s hours of operation is Wednesday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with the school schedule permitting. School delays, cancellations, testing and study trips may affect the regular business hours. Calling ahead to reserve a table is recommended by calling 937.599.3010 ext. 1356.

In addition, the ProStart Culinary program also offers on-site catering for groups and organizations.
