OHPCC Class of 2016 earns nearly $500,000 in scholarship monies

The Ohio Hi-Point Career Center honored 230 high school seniors during the annual convocation ceremony Wednesday evening.

The ceremony, which celebrates students from Ohio Hi-Point’s 14 partner school districts who complete Ohio Hi-Point’s career-technical programs, was held outside just below Campbell Hill at the Ohio Hi-Point Career Center in Bellefontaine.

Hannah Contalee, a Cosmetology graduate from Marysville High School, received the Best of Class designation.

Nearly $500,000 in scholarship monies was awarded to members of the class of 2016. The following seniors received scholarships:

  • Brett Rappold (Riverside), Allied Health and Nursing, received the Sloan Trustees Scholarship in the amount of $4,000
  • Devin Jacobs (Indian Lake), Electronics Engineering, and Victoria Ortiz (Indian Lake), Animal Management, received the Ohio Hi-Point Board of Education Scholarship in the amount of $1,000 and $500, respectively
  • Alexa Arms (Marysville), Allied Health and Nursing; Alec Finch (Graham), Automotive Collision; Mykaila Daniels (Urbana), Animal Management; and Sierra Spires (Marysville), Culinary Arts, each received $500 Ohio Hi-Point Staff Scholarships
  • Brandon Asbury (Kenton), Animal Management, received the Ohio Hi-Point Judy Gratz Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $1,000
  • Aisha Patrick (Benjamin Logan), Allied Health & Nursing, received the Ohio Northern University Dean’s Scholarship in the amount of $64,000
  • Taylor Tinsley (Indian Lake), Printing and Graphic Arts, received a Columbus College of Art and Design Presidential Scholarship in the amount of the $70,200
  • Katleen Wampler (Bellefontaine), Multimedia Marketing, received a Columbus College of Art and Design Presidential Scholarship in the amount of the $50,000
  • Selena Greenawalt (Bellefontaine), Animal Management, received the Lake Erie College Dean’s Scholarship in the amount of $48,000
  • Zacharie Cantrell (Marysville), Electronics Engineering, received the University of Dayton Father Chaminade & Study Abroad Scholarship in the amount of $44,100
  • Brandon Asbury and Trentin Adams (Kenton), Animal Management, both received a Mount St. Joseph Merit Award in the amount of $36,000
  • Alexa Arms (Marysville), Allied Health & Nursing, received the Marion Technical College Foundation Scholarship in the amount of $11,075
  • Ella Livingston (Marysville), Allied Health and Nursing, received the Clark State Trustees Scholarship in the amount of $8,500
  • Cassandra Ferguson (Urbana), Multimedia Marketing, received the Bowling Green Merit Scholarship in the amount of $8,000
  • Meyghan Crates (Ridgemont), Allied Health and Nursing, received the Bowling Green State University Freshman Scholarship in the amount of $3,50
  • Benjamin Little (Waynesfield-Goshen), Multimedia Marketing, received the 664th AC&W Squadron Reunion Scholarship in the amount of $1,000

  • Sierra Spires (Marysville), Culinary Arts, received the Sullivan University Dean’s Scholarship in the amount of $7,000
  • Austin Kragh (Triad), Electronics Engineering, and Brett Rappold (Riverside), Allied Health and Nursing, each received a Shawnee State Scholarship in the amount of $6,000
  • Roy Ingles (Graham), Diesel Technology, received the Lincoln Technical College Scholarship in the amount of $6,500
  • Michelle Massie (Urbana), Allied Health and Nursing; Ella Livingston (Marysville), Allied Health and Nursing; Tara Deardurff (Benjamin Logan), Cosmetology; Sadrian Garver (Graham), Allied Health and Nursing; and Janessa Queen (Bellefontaine), Allied Health and Nursing, received Clark State Tech Prep Scholarships in the amount of $3,000 each
  • Tyler Aldo (Bellefontaine), Electronics Engineering; Joshua Bosley (Indian Lake), Electronics Engineering; Paige Butler (Benjamin Logan), Allied Health and Nursing; Chase Howell (Marysville), Welding and Fabrication; Alexa Klingler (Riverside), Printing and Graphic Arts; Benjamin Little (Waynesfield-Goshen), Multimedia Marketing; Cera Markley (Bellefontaine), Multimedia Marketing; and Austin Pence (Indian Lake), Electronics Engineering, received Rhodes State Tech Prep Scholarships in the amount of $2,000 each
  • Jordan Bacon (Graham), Desiree Caster (Waynesfield-Goshen), Liam Smith (Graham) and Sierra Spires (Marysville), all Culinary Arts students, received Sinclair Community College Tech Prep Scholarships in the amount of $3,000 each
  • Kody Gibson (Graham), Diesel Technology; Jayson Carey (Upper Scioto Valley), Diesel Technology; Jason Johann (Benjamin Logan), Multimedia Marketing; and Collin Lowe (Waynesfield-Goshen), Automotive Technology, received University of Northwestern Ohio Tech Prep Scholarships in the amount of $2,000 each
  • Cera Markley (Bellefontaine), Multimedia Marketing, received the Rhodes State Rhodes to Success Scholarship in the amount of $1,500
  • Emily Carl (Upper Scioto Valley), Culinary Arts, received the Imagine America Scholarship in the amount of $1,000
  • Tara Deardurff (Benjamin Logan), Cosmetology, received the Mary Rutan Foundation Dwight Spencer Medical Scholarship in the amount of $1,000
  • Alexa Arms (Marysville), Allied Health and Nursing, received the Red Cross Drive to Serve Scholarship in the amount of $750
  • Mykaila Daniels (Urbana), Animal Management, received the Bellefontaine Lions Scholarship in the amount of $500
  • Mykaela Jumper (Urbana), Cosmetology, received the Anita Kaufmann Foundation Scholarship in the amount of $500
  • Meyghan Crates (Ridgemont), Allied Health and Nursing, received the Quest Federal Credit Union Scholarship in the amount of $500
