BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio- The Ohio Hi-Point Career Center honored 203 high school seniors during the annual convocation ceremonies Wednesday evening.

The ceremony, which celebrates students who completed the career-technical programs from OHP’s 14 partner school districts, was held at the Bellefontaine High School.

“We congratulate you and celebrate with you,” remarked Superintendent Jeff Price, “but never forget about the process of getting where you are tonight. If you continue to take pride in what you’re doing and always remember what it took to accomplish your goals, you will continue passing life tests with flying colors.”

Angela Burton (Indian Lake), Kiersten Daum (Bellefontaine) and Eleanor Skinner (Marysville) conducted the ceremony with the introduction of guests.

The student speakers for convocation were David Conner (Bellefontaine), Shelby McMann (Indian Lake), Carrissa Magnuson (West Liberty-Salem), Jennifer Propst (Marysville) and Nicholas Davis (West Liberty-Salem).

Magnuson addressed her fellow classmates saying, “We have been presented with the opportunities to excel in our communities, in our state and in our nation. Our lives have changed for the better and we’ve impacted the lives of others through our work.”

Davis addressed the crowd in his speech saying, “Even with our separate paths, all paths converge at one point or another. The two hundred of us were lucky enough to cross path at the same time, spending the last two years here at Hi-Point. It’s been an honor and privilege to walk the halls with you.”

Superintendent Jeff Price; Shelly Swaney, high school director; and Lynne Hall, guidance counselor, also spoke during the ceremony.

Lou Vito, president of WPKO/WBLL in Bellefontaine, announced the names of each student to receive senior certificates from career-technical instructors.

Dustin Wooten (West Liberty-Salem) and Blake Johnston (Indian Lake), both completing the Health Technology program, received the Best of Class designation.

Over $382,000 in scholarships, an Ohio Hi-Point record, was awarded to members of the class of 2014.
