Hi-Point Celebrates National Career Technical Education Month

(Throughout the month, stayed tuned for guest blogs, student photo/video features and CTSO spotlights beginning February 1. If you want to give a CTE testimony, write on our Facebook wall and share your story or memory with others. )

Students and staff at Ohio Hi-Point Career Center will join others across the nation during the month of February to celebrate Career and Technical Education (CTE) month.

This year’s theme is Career and Technical Education Works! and provides programs the opportunity to demonstrate how CTE educates students to be college and career ready, as well as demonstrates the dynamic impact CTE has on economical development.

Ohio Hi-Point offers high-demand career programs for high school juniors and seniors on Hi-Point’s main campus and satellite locations.

Between 500 and 600 students participate in one of the 21 programs offered on Ohio Hi-Point’s main campus in Bellefontaine. The programs fall in career pathways ranging from construction trades, automotive careers and engineering, to health technology, human services and customer service.

Satellite locations are also available, allowing over 1,000 students to partake in CTE classes within the partner school districts. Currently, Hi-Point partners with Graham, Marysville, Urbana, Riverside, Upper Scioto Valley, Waynesfield-Goshen, Kenton and Grimes Airfield to offer 13 programs from business and health technology to aviation and agriculture.

“We hope the community will take the time to learn about the great opportunities CTE has to offer; not only for the students, but also for the economical development and strong partnerships with industry and business leaders,” offered Jeff Price, superintendent.

By partnering with business, community, and industry leaders, Ohio Hi-Point invests in students’ lives with the latest technology and skills that will prepare them for a successful career.

In addition, Ohio Hi-Point partners with several colleges and universities across the state to provide a higher education pathway for students with the potential to earn up to thirty college credits while in high school.

“Our students are doing great things, and I’m very proud of the work they have done, and will continue to do,” finished Superintendent Price.

For a complete list of CTE classes, instructor contact information and other information about CTE at Ohio Hi-Point, visit Hi-Point’s website or find OHP on Facebook and Twitter.
