Ohio Hi-Point construction students finish building Bellefontaine house

BELLEFONTAINE- As the school year wound down, the activity at 152 Lakewood Drive in Bellefontaine kicked up a notch. The property was buzzing with students from Ohio Hi-Point Career Center’s School of Construction finishing the last touches on the house they’ve been building since August.

Each year, the students enrolled in carpentry, electricity, masonry, building maintenance, plumbing and pipefitting, and professional turf and landscaping build a house from the foundation to the finishing touches for someone to call a home.

Working in a partnership with Dave and Ross Duff as well as the experienced instruction from Ohio Hi-Point’s instructors, students are able to take part in a real world opportunity, completing two houses during the two-year program.

“This is the culmination of a lot of hard work from a lot of different individuals,” remarked Dave Marstellar, Ohio Hi-Point’s carpentry instructor, “it’s all about teamwork and at the end of the day, they’re professionals on a job site.”

This is the nineteenth house the school of construction has completed, with no intention on slowing down in the years to come.
